INFORMATION

​Our upcoming Joint Symposium in Chiang Mai, Thailand, brings together 3 study groups on Applied Ethnomusicology, Performing Arts of Southeast Asia (PASEA), and Indigenous Music and Dance. This collaboration aims to broaden regional and thematic discussions, encourage cross-group participation, and strengthen engagement within the ICTMD study groups. 

The Joint Symposium is hosted by Chulalongkorn University in collaboration with Chiang Mai University and Kansadaeng Watthanatham Co., Ltd.

ABOUT CHIANG MAI

Chiang Mai, Thailand's second largest city with its rich history and diverse culture. Situated in the northern Thailand, the city is characterized by mountainous terrain and home to a diverse range of ethnic groups.

It was once a major trading hub and is now one of Thailand's most vibrant performing arts scenes. In 2026, the city of Chiang Mai will celebrate the 730th anniversary of its establishment.
